I came across this article which gives 15 reasons why men who seem gentle and caring seem to fare worse in their love lives than those who do not. According to the article, the problem is not that the man trying to attract the woman is too nice, but rather that he is trying too hard to attract her. Nice men are instead turned into friends because they are submissive, easily manipulated, seem weak, insecure, and unrealistic – qualities to which women are often not attracted.
