Great piece on huffingtonpost.com. The article shows how some grooms would ask their father-in-laws for permission. Some did it by phone, Facebook messages and some in person. Others didn’t want to do it at all seeing that it is an old tradition that basically assumed the wife was property. They felt like the woman should be the one consenting, not the father-in-law. Some did though just for the proper respect.
